The Full Story

A Cherished Hometown Hero

23 years before Jack and Jackie Stevens married in Henrietta, Jack was born in Thornberry in 1934. Jack was always thankful to God for helping him survive his early years. He lived along Holliday Creek until he was around 12 when he started working on Ranches. Jack was working as a cowboy and then a rodeo cowboy who could ride anything before he joined the U.S. Army. He accomplished all this while still always expressing himself through his incredible artistic gift. “While we were waiting for lunch, he would draw on napkins or whatever paper I could as a child scrounge up.” Jack and Jackie would later go into the cattle business until 1970 when Jack officially began his art studio and decided to further pursue his career as an artist. He created many drawings and paintings throughout his life, many of which are proudly displayed today!

Letters of Authenticity by Jack Stevens

There are several approved methods used to secure the authenticity of a work of art. The most common being a Certificate of Authenticity issued by a gallery or the artist. Another important method, is when the artist provides a personal letter to the client with all of the necessary information, as well as the history and inspiration for the work. Letters such as this, are an important and valuable document.

The Cowboy Way of Life, Forever Carved In Time

By: David Band

” The unique ability to combine strength and visual eloquence is without question the hallmark of Jack Stevens’ artistic presentation.

Drawing from his treasured memories and wealth of personal experiences, Jack was able to capture in truth, the life and times of this place and it’s people.

Being a skilled storyteller, he brought the past into the present with a deep understanding and compassion for his subjects, while creating a dialogue with the viewer and giving life to his art.

As a respected visual historian, Jack ensured that the cowboy way of life, would forever, be carved in time.”
